Where it began

The Woodland House

A family home in Woodland, Utah, and the name I carry into every home I design.

My mom was born and raised in Woodland, Utah. When I was four, my parents bought land from my grandpa and built our family home there. It was the first and only custom home they ever built.

We moved all around the country, but my parents kept that house, and we went back every summer. I always considered that place home.

When I was a teenager, my dad retired and my parents moved back. I helped my mom redecorate the house, and that is where I remember my love of home design beginning.

We always called it the Woodland House. That's why it's the name of my design firm, and why every home I design starts with the same hope: that it becomes someone's Woodland House.

Meet Joni

Home isn't a place. It's a feeling we create.

Over the course of my life, I've lived in almost every region of the country. Moving taught me that home isn't really a specific place. It's a feeling we create: a sense of place, belonging, and connection. That idea has shaped both the way I live and the way I design.

As a wife and mother of three, I've come to appreciate how deeply our homes influence our everyday lives. They are where we gather around the table, retreat at the end of a long day, and welcome the people we love. Where we experience the everyday moments that shape who we are and become some of our most treasured memories.

I was raised with a deep appreciation for faith, family, kindness, and hard work, and those values still influence the way I approach both life and design. To me, home should be a place where people feel comfortable, welcomed, and loved.
